Colton Brycen Woodley
The last two days have been an adventure, but we couldn't be happier. Colton is such a cute and sweet baby. We went into the hospital on Wednesday (June 27th) at 6AM so that Lori could be induced and Colton was born at 4:38 PM. The delivery went really fast (just 15 minutes). He gave us a bit of a scare as he first came out and wasn't moving too much or crying. He was just whimpering and grunting. The nurses were a little concerned and quickly took him aside for observation. Several nurses came quickly in and out. We learned later that he had a broken clavicle. He came down so quickly, was sideways, and had the umbilicle cord around his neck. We also learned later that he had a small pneumothorax (small hole in his lung). All this contributed to him not being real alert after being born. Wednesday night Lori asked that they have him in the nursery so that the nurses could keep an eye on him during the night. It was really good that she did. During the night his oxygen level dropped twice and he was having a hard time keeping his food down. They transferred him to the NICU this morning. That's when they took x-rays to confirm the broken bone and found the small hole in his lung. Once they learned about the hole in his lung everything else made sense (not being real alert after he was born and his oxygen level dropping). The pediatrician says it happens from time to time with newborns and that it should heal up just fine. He was in the NICU all day today and gained strength and started eating better as the day progressed so they let him go back to the room with Lori. This evening he appears to be doing much better. He is holding his food down and seems to be resting well, but you can tell that he is in pain from the broken bone. The pediatrician says it will heal really quickly, but that we need to be careful. He and Lori are still in the hospital. I came home to be with Austin and Brooklyn so that they didn't feel like they were abandoned. Mom and Dad have been awesome with Austin and Brooklyn and we really appreciate them helping out the last two days.
Here are some pictures:

Mom and Dad came down yesterday to visit and to bring Austin and Brooklyn to see their new baby brother. We didn't get Dad in a picture on this go around.
Grandma and Grandpa Monson stopped in today to visit us in the NICU. It was great to see them.
Grandma Nelson stopped in last night.
We tried to get a family picture with everyone when they came to visit on Wednesday (as you can see that didn't go too well)
Austin decided that his responsibility was to be sure that Mom's hospital bed was adjusted just right (up ... down ... up ... down ... up ...)
Colton quiets right down when Lori holds him.
He's so fun to hold. So tiny and quiet. His cries are really soft (I'm sure that won't last very long)
They made a special sign for him to be sure all the nurses knew to be careful:
It was so sad to see him in the NICU. We're so glad he is back out:
He is just as cute as can be!

It's time to spoil them !!!! :)
I love them sooo much!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We are so excited for your family! We're glad that everything is going okay now-sounds like you had a good scare! Paige and Reagan love to look at his picture. We can't wait to meet him the next time y'all come to Utah!
What a beautiful baby! Congratulations. Glad to hear that everyone is doing better. Words of wisdom for a house with 2 wee ones and Austin: 1) install a security alarm and set it with everyone inside - that way you know when one escapes. It worked wonders for me. 2) if you're missing a buck naked Austin, check the tractor - they always head for the nearest object that can be started. 3) remove all sharp and/or ignitable objects from the house. Since you have an Eagle Scout in the family rubbing two sticks together instead shouldn't present a problem. (Matt wishes we had learned lesson #3 prior to Nick snipping a 1/2" off his behind with a pair of scissors.) Love ya!
Lori and Brycen!! Congratulations! He is so sweet, and Lori you're beautiful! There's something about a new mom. I'm so happy for you and hope all goes well in the coming weeks. Scary, but thank goodness for good medicine, right?!
What a cutie-pie! You guys sure do know how to make em'! :) I hope he heals up soon so that he can keep up with Austin and Brooklyn!
I'm so glad everything turned out ok. What a scare at first! I can't imagine what must have been going through your minds. You two are amazing parents and Colton is lucky to have a fun older brother and a sweet older sister. Congrats on an amazingly beautiful family. Lori, are you so happy to not be pregnant anymore? I bet it feels good to have baby #3 here safe and sound. We love you guys! We'll be praying for baby Colton. Can't wait to meet him in person.
What a relief that all turned out okay for baby Colton. I feel so sad that we don't live closer so that we could help out more during these 'adventurous' days of your lives! You are in our thoughts and prayers, please give all those little babies a hug and kiss from us!
Congratulations!
I know its been awhile since we talked, but our family thinks of the "Woodley's" often. You have a beautiful family and we hope to catch up soon!
